I decided to participate in my first creative challenge over the weekend! The title of the challenge is "Do With What You've Got". . . that's what got my attention and was my deciding factor to participate.
Here's the current Virginia's View Challenge:
Here's what I had looking at me. . . lots of scraps!
These scraps of Moolight Desinger Paper were left after cutting for projects for my Open House! (Does anyone else have trouble throwing away pretty paper. . . even if it's really small?)
These are the projects from my Open House. . . the card in front is the culprit!
The pile scaps had been sitting there for nearly a week, I had to do it! The paper pieces were only 1/2" x 6-1/2" and 1-1/8" x 2", so even though I had a lot of them, I didn't have very large pieces with which to work.
Here are the bookmarks/tags that I created using my scraps! (The messages "You are a Wonderful Work of Art" were extras from a swap I participated in, so I didn't even have to stamp those!)
Here's how I did the herringbone background . . .
The bookmark is 2" x 6" (cut from a 12"x 12" so I can get 12 from one sheet).
- Punch the top with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch.
- Cut a 2" x 5-1/4" piece of Stampin' Up!'s new Transfer Adhesive Sheet and apply it to the bottom of bookmark.
- Begin to apply strips to the adhesive as shown below. (You can see where the adhesve ends as it's shiny.)
You have to come back to see my next post as I'll share tips for using the Hexagon Hive Thinlit that I used on the other bookmark.
I have absolutely no aspirations of winning. . . it was just fun to participate and put my scraps to use!
If you haven't had the chance to take a look yet, you'll want to check out the 2014-15 Stampin' Up! Catalog! It's full of awesomeness!
You can shop with me online 24/7! (. . . when you do, please select "allow demonstrator to contact me" as I'll send you a handstamped "thank you"!)
